Getting Started with Bucket

Learn the core concepts of Bucket — spaces, intelligent auto-tagging, AI summaries, private items, and shortlinks.

Bucket is your unified digital brain for saving, organizing, and rediscovering everything that matters to you across the web. Here is a quick tour of the core concepts to help you get the most out of your library.

What is Bucket?

Unlike traditional bookmark managers that become messy graveyards of dead links, Bucket is designed as an active knowledge hub:

  • Multi-Format: Save bookmarks, rich notes, images, PDFs, videos, and voice memos side-by-side.
  • AI-Enriched: Every item automatically receives intelligent topic tags and a concise AI summary.
  • Instant Shortlinks: Share any saved link, file, or note with a privacy-preserving shortlink (mybucket.space/c/...).
  • Spaces & Collaboration: Organize personal items in your private space, or create shared team spaces with role-based permissions.

1. Spaces & Folders

Everything in Bucket lives inside a Space:

  • Personal Space: Your private default library. Everything saved here is visible only to you unless you explicitly mark an item as public.
  • Shared Spaces: Create spaces for work projects, reading clubs, or shared research. Invite teammates as Viewers, Editors, or Admins.
  • Folders: Group related items hierarchically. Folders can be nested and shared with custom public links.

2. Item Types

Bucket handles 5 core item types natively:

  1. Bookmarks: Web links and articles. Bucket fetches the title, description, favicon, and preview card automatically.
  2. Notes: Markdown and rich text. Perfect for meeting notes, recipes, ideas, and clipboard clippings.
  3. Media: Images, screenshots, photos, and videos.
  4. Documents: PDFs, Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, presentations, and CSV files.
  5. Audio: Voice memos, recordings, and podcasts with waveform previews and transcription.

3. Privacy & Shortlinks

Every item has an independent privacy toggle:

  • Private Items (Lock Icon): Accessible only to you or authenticated members of that space.
  • Public Items: Anyone with the link can view the reader mode, preview card, or download the media.
  • Shortcodes: Enable shortlinks to automatically generate a clean mybucket.space/c/[code] link ready to share in Slack, WhatsApp, or iMessage.
