iOS Shortcut
Save links, media, documents, and notes to Bucket directly from the share sheet on your iPhone or iPad. Set up once, use everywhere.
Save any webpage, image, document, or clipping directly into your Bucket without switching apps. The official Save to Bucket Apple Shortcut integrates natively with the iOS Share Sheet and copies your public shortlink to your clipboard instantly.
What you'll need
- An iPhone or iPad running iOS 16 or later
- The Shortcuts app (pre-installed on iOS)
- A Bucket account and personal API key
1. Get your Bucket API Key
Before installing the shortcut, grab an API key so your shortcut can securely authenticate with your Bucket spaces.
- Sign in to your Bucket account.
- Tap your profile avatar or open Settings → API Keys.
- Tap Create new key, name it
iPhone Shortcut, and copy the generated token.
Keep it safe: Your API key has permissions to save items to your personal bucket space. It is stored securely in your private iOS Shortcuts storage.
2. Download the Shortcut
- Tap the Download shortcut button at the top of this guide (or open the provided iCloud link on your iOS device).
- The Shortcuts app will open displaying the shortcut preview.
- Tap Set Up Shortcut (or Add Shortcut).
3. Configure your API Key
During the one-time setup:
- When prompted for your Bucket API Key, paste the key you copied in Step 1.
- When asked if you want to Auto-copy shortlink to clipboard, select Yes if you'd like your
mybucket.space/c/...link copied immediately after saving. - Tap Done to finish installation.
4. Save from the iOS Share Sheet
Whenever you find something you want to save:
Web links & Articles
Open any webpage in Safari, Chrome, Arc, or Twitter, tap the Share button, and select Save to Bucket. Bucket automatically pulls page metadata, favicon, and sets up AI summarization.
Photos, Videos & Screenshots
Select any photo or screenshot in your camera roll, tap Share, and tap Save to Bucket. Your file is uploaded to your storage and cataloged immediately.
PDFs & Documents
In Files, Mail, or Books, tap Share → Save to Bucket. Bucket preserves the original document name and creates a reader view for the file.
Text Clippings & Notes
Highlight any text snippet in Safari, Apple Notes, or Messages, tap Share, and choose Save to Bucket. Bucket extracts the first line as a title and formats the markdown cleanly.
5. Quick Capture via the Action Button
If your iPhone has an Action Button (iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 16 series), you can assign it directly to Save to Bucket:
- Open Settings → Action Button on your iPhone.
- Swipe to the Shortcut option.
- Choose Save to Bucket.
Now, pressing the Action Button will instantly read whatever URL or text is currently on your clipboard, save it to your Bucket, and display a confirmation banner!
Tips & Troubleshooting
- Allow Notifications: Enable notifications for Shortcuts in iOS Settings so you get a banner confirming each successful save along with your shortlink.
- Spaces & Folders: By default, items save to your personal bucket. You can edit the shortcut's dictionary payload to specify a particular
bucketIdorparentIdfolder if you prefer saving to a dedicated project space.
